ComicConnect: Origin and First Appearance of the Atom at Auction
“Not only is All-American Comics #19 just the fourth appearance of the Green Lantern,” explained Vincent Zurzolo, COO of ComicConnect and men in tights aficionado, “This books is a desirable key as it marks the first appearance of Al Pratt, the Atom.”
When he first appeared, the Atom was powerless but acted as a symbol of hope to the under-tall Zurzolo explained with a wink as the Atom trained to become a human dynamo. Conceived by Bill O'Connor and Ben Flinton, the Al Pratt version of the Atom, along with Green Lantern, went on to become founding members of the Justice Society, the world's first superhero team.
ComicConnect is offering an All-American Comics #19 CGC 6.5 with off-white pages.
“This comic is a top-choice Golden Age collectible featuring early depictions of two characters that have enjoyed genuine staying power,” Zurzolo concluded. “The sharp, graphically powerful design of this cover is amplified by the bold colors which still stand out today, the central figures are crisp, clean, and pack a punch.”
