  Hake's Auctions' Newest Sale Features Many First Appearances & Hundreds Of CGC Comics

Hake’s newest auction is now online and includes over 1,800 lots, including hundreds of CGC graded comic books from the Golden Age up through and including Modern books.

The selection includes many notable first appearances of Marvel characters, most important among those being Spider-Man, who debuted in Amazing Fantasy #15 (CGC 3.0). Other noteworthy debuts include Professor X, the X-Men and Magneto in X-Men #1 (CGC 4.0), Iron Man in Tales of Suspense #39 (CGC 2.5 Restored), Fantastic Four in Fantastic Four #1 (CGC 2.5 Signature Series), The Avengers in Avengers #1 (CGC 3.5), Daredevil in Daredevil #1 (CGC 5.5), Silver Surfer and Galactus in Fantastic Four #48 (CGC 7.0), Black Panther in Fantastic Four #52 (CGC 7.5), Wolverine in The Incredible Hulk #181 (CGC 3.5), The Punisher in Amazing Spider-Man #129 (CGC 4.5), New X-Men Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus and Thunderbird in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (CGC 7.0) and of course, everyone favorite Merc with a Mouth Deadpool in New Mutants #98 (CGC 9.6 Signature Series).

Deadpool is further represented by Rob Liefeld’s original art for a page from New Mutants #98. This is just one of many pieces of original comic art in the current auction.

Comic book supervillains are well represented as well, with Spider-Man’s rogues gallery being particularly prominent in issues of Amazing Spider-Man. The auction includes the first appearance of The Vulture in #2 (CGC 6.5), Doctor Octopus in #3 (CGC 7.5), Sandman in #4 (CGC 7.5), The Lizard in #6 (CGC 8.0), Electro in #9 (CGC 7.5), Mysterio in #13 (CGC 6.0), The Green Goblin in #14 (CGC 8.0), Kraven the Hunter in #15 (CGC 8.0), The Scorpion in #20 (CGC 9.0), The Rhino in #41 (CGC 8.0), The Shocker in  #46 (CGC 5.5) and Kingpin in #50 (CGC 9.0).

Batman’s nefarious foes also show up in the newest auction, giving bidders the opportunity to bid on the first appearances of Clayface in Detective Comics #40 (CGC 1.5), Mister Freeze in Batman #121 (CGC 7.0 and 6.0) and Poison Ivy in Batman #181 (CGC 5.5 Qualified). The Joker is also featured on several great Golden Age covers, including the issue that features his origin, Detective Comics #168 (CGC 3.0).

Among the hundreds of other books in the auction, additional highlights include a number of CGC Signature Series featuring the signature of the late great Stan Lee. These include Amazing Spider-Man #101 (CGC 7.5), #122 (CGC 8.5) and #129 (CGC 6.5), Avengers #1 (CGC 3.5), Fantastic Four #1 (CGC 2.5), Iron Man #1 (CGC 6.5), New Mutants #98 (CGC 9.6) and X-Men #101 (CGC 9.6).
