3/9/2012 Auction Unlocks Keys of Opportunity

The Spring Event Auction features plenty of opportunities for Silver and Golden Age collectors to pick up keys for their collections.

“On the very last day to list comics for the auction, we got the call, the consignor asked us to sell his Action Comics #1 CGC 4.5 and we were thrilled,” said Rob Reynolds, Director of Consignments. “This will be our twelfth copy to sell at auction through in the last three years. That’s more than all of the other auctions houses on Earth combined!”

The company is the current Guinness World Record holder for the most valuable comic book sold at $2.161 million. sold the three most expensive comics ever by anyone, anywhere!

Just a sampling of Golden Age comics in the Event Auction includes three copies of Batman #1, two copies of Detective Comics #27, two copies of Superman #1… “We’re like Noah, but with comics” …nearly 100 copies from the Edgar Church collection and to top it all, The Check That Bought Superman!!!

Silver Age collectors will find Amazing Spider-Man #1 CGC 9.2 along with 3 other copies from which to choose and three copies of Avengers #1 including a CGC certified NM- 9.2. The auction is packed with high grade Spideys with an average grade falling between 9.4 and 9.6.

The original comic art section of the Spring Event Auction is filled with goodies for the discerning collector. A John Romita Golden Age Captain America page is packed with action, an Empire Strikes Back painting signed by the artist Roger Kastel as well as Mark Hamill is up for grabs, an original Todd McFarlane Spidey cover can be won, and two very interesting Charles Schulz Peanuts pieces will go to the highest bidder.
