Comic books carrying CGC grades among top lots in Heritage Auctions’ September Comics & Comic Art Auction

The vast majority of the comic books offered in Heritage Auctions’ Comics & Comic Art Auction Sept. 10-13, including those carrying the top 80 pre-auction estimates, carry CGC grades. 

Demand for a rare unrestored copy of Superman #1 (DC, 1939) CGC VG+ 4.5 Cream to off-white pages (estimate: $325,000) is expected to soar. Unrestored copies of this major key are very hard to come by, and Heritage Auctions has not offered an unrestored copy graded higher than 5.0 in 20 years. The popularity of this issue is matched by its historical significance: Superman #1, which reached newsstands barely a year after the Man of Steel made his first appearance in Action Comics #1, was the first time an entire comic was devoted to a single superhero. The issue is ranked No. 3 on Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics list.
