Comic books carrying CGC grades among top results in Heritage Auctions' July Comics & Comic Art Auction

The top 20 comic books sold in Heritage Auctions’ July 9-11 Comics & Comic Art Auction each carried a CGC grade. 

Leading the pack was Superman #1 (DC, 1939) CGC VG/FN 5.0 Off-white pages, which drew bids from nearly three dozen collectors before finding a new home at $360,000. One of the 10 nicest ever certified by CGC, this copy is one of just three with a 5.0 grade, and there are just seven known to carry a higher grade. This issue has retained its popularity for generations, and currently is ranked No. 3 on Overstreet’s Top 100 Golden Age Comics list.

Tales of Suspense #39 (Marvel, 1963) CGC NM 9.4 Off-white to white pages: $99,000

Captain America Comics #1 (Timely, 1941) CGC VG- 3.5 Off-white to white pages: $90,000

Fantastic Four #1 (Marvel, 1961) CGC Qualified VF+ 8.5 Off-white pages: $72,000

Captain America Comics #3 Eldon Pedigree (Timely, 1941) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Cream to off-white pages: $52,800
