Matthew McGee Joins Heritage Auctions’ Chicago Office as Comics Consignment Director

DALLAS, Texas (January 12, 2021) – Heritage Auctions has announced that Matthew McGee has joined its Chicago office as a Comics Consignment Director.

“There are so many great comic collections in the Great Lakes area!” Heritage Auctions Vice President Barry Sandoval said. “We knew we needed a full-time Comics specialist in our Chicago office, and we think we’ve found the perfect person to fill that role.”

What began as a summer job about 30 years ago evolved into a lifelong passion that has built a foundation of knowledge, making him an unquestioned expert in the hobby.

He started by setting up and manning the table of 50-cent comics outside a shop in Queens, N.Y. McGee later clerked at and eventually managed the world-renowned St. Mark’s Comics in New York City, and later managed the back issue operation for Midtown Comics.

The breadth of his knowledge and the depth of his passion for comics and the comic book industry have taken him from coast to coast, from New York to the Pacific Northwest.

“Heritage Auctions is the world’s leading comics auctioneer, and adding an expert of Matthew’s caliber only strengthens that status,” said Roberta Kramer, Managing Director of Heritage Auctions’ Chicago office. “There are outstanding collections all over the Midwest, and now buyers and sellers throughout the region now have access to an elite resource in Chicago who can evaluate and help buy and sell their collections.”

McGee will work with Sandoval and the Comics department, and with Kramer in the Chicago office. He can be reached at 214-409-3404 or at [email protected].
