CGC-Graded Comics Lead Heritage Auctions Comics & Comic Art Signature® Auction June 16-19
Among the highlights is All Star Comics No. 8 (DC, 1942) CGC NM 9.4 Off-white to white pages, the highest-graded copy yet certified – by far – of Wonder Woman’s first appearance. Experts at Heritage Auctions – the world’s largest comics auctioneer – never had seen a blue label copy of All Star Comics No. 8 with a grade higher than VF 8.0 until this true Near Mint copy arrived. According to CGC’s census, only five copies have received blue label grades of VF 8.0 or higher; this is the only copy graded 9.4, and there are none with higher grades.
Detective Comics #29 (DC, 1939) CGC VF+ 8.5 Off-white pages is the finest copy ever issued by Heritage Auctions. The issue includes the first appearance of Dr. Death, in the first of a two-part story. This issue currently is ranked No. 14 on Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics. This issue is a prized rarity: according to the May 2022 CGC census, the offered copy is the only one graded 8.5; only two carry higher grades.
